Patrick McCarthy
Chairman and Editorial Director, Fairchild Publications
As Fairchild Publications Chairman and Editorial Director, Patrick McCarthy oversees the editorial content of all publications: Women's Wear Daily, our fashion and beauty consumer magazines Jane, W & Details and our many business-to-business titles.
Previously, McCarthy served as Executive Editor and then as Executive Vice President of W and Women's Wear Daily after his return to New York from Europe in 1985. From 1978 until 1985 he held positions in both London and Paris where he was London Bureau Chief and Paris Bureau Chief of W and WWD respectively. In 1980, he was appointed European Editor.
McCarthy has spent nearly his entire journalism career at Fairchild and in that time he has created a stable of world class publications. In 1994, McCarthy received the Eugenia Sheppard Award for Fashion Journalism. During his tenure W magazine has received four National Magazine Award nominations, winning for Photography in 1998.
